Correspondence dealing with the decision of the Federal Government to set off atomic bombs at Bikini Atoll in the summer of 1946 to learn the effect of atomic warfare on warships at sea. The series consists mainly of correspondence with private individuals and scientific, religious, labor, and other groups protesting the decision to stafe the experiment, cheifly for fear that the atomic explosions would constitute a threat to world peace, overturn laws of nature, or cause vast destruction of marine life.
